LaunchCode Takes Off
There was a lot of celebrating going on as LaunchCode reopened the doors to its headquarters on Delmar Blvd. in St. Louis. Following inspiring speeches by founder Jim McKelvey, executive director Jeff Mazur, and St. Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones, rockets were launched in front of the building’s new facade.
As reported by KMOV4, “Planting our flag, permanently, on Delmar Blvd. in an old unemployment office is significant to our mission and a huge milestone for bridging the opportunity gap in our region,” said Jeff Mazur, LaunchCode executive director. “We’re paving the way for high-paying, upwardly mobile and stable career opportunities for all who are driven enough to walk through our doors – no matter their ability to pay.”
JEMA’s innovative design for the 25,000 sq. ft. renovation is centered around the idea of a “Coderscape.” The Coderscape is a three-dimensional space where teaching, learning, collaborating, and coding all take place on a multi-dimensional interior landscape.
