Saint Charles Recreation and Senior Center

Saint Charles’ new Recreation and Senior Center will transform a historic building within the former American Car and Foundry district into a 53,000-square-foot destination for recreation, wellness, and community connection. Designed by JEMA, the facility will bring together recreation and senior programming under one roof while preserving the character of the historic structure.

The Recreation Center will feature fitness areas, basketball and pickleball courts, an elevated running track, children’s play areas, a café, and flexible spaces for community activities. The adjoining Senior Center will provide dedicated spaces for dining, wellness programs, social activities, and services for older adults.

As part of the City Centre Complex, the facility will connect with the new City Hall, pocket park, and surrounding neighborhoods. The adaptive reuse project will preserve elements of the historic building while creating a flexible, accessible facility designed to serve St. Charles residents for generations.
