St. Charles’ new station follows a prototype plan created for the city that maximizes state-of-the-art fire station technologies and leverages planning efficiencies. With two drive through apparatus bays, Fire Station No. 3 has the ability to house varying ambulance and firetruck types. The station’s living quarters features seven individual bunk rooms to accommodate three shifts of fire fighters, offices for fire personnel, as well as a modern kitchen and dining facility. JEMA’s design for the exterior intentionally suits the contextual surroundings of the neighborhood – including the color of the brick and the pitch of the roof. This modern station sets the tone for the City of St. Charles’s investment in safety and community responsiveness.
