Ferguson Police Station

The City of Ferguson’s original Police Headquarters was built in 1979, and was in critical need of upgrades and improvements.

JEMA’s design includes the complete renovation of the existing 18,000 sq. ft. 2-story station, and a new 4,000 sq. ft. addition.

A key component of the design strategy was keeping the police operational while the building was being renovated and constructed around them. We collaborated with the construction manager, the police and city administration to create a phasing strategy that allowed for police operations to continue uninterrupted while maintaining the project schedule and budget.

The new South building addition includes a Sally Port, Dispatch Center, Evidence Room and upgraded Processing and Detention Area.

The new North building addition includes a new Public Entry and Court Room. Security design for the new entry and court room are integrated into the architecture seamlessly. Bulletproof transaction windows and Dais construction, as well as hi-definition CCTV and Smart hardware are employed throughout.
