ATLAS PUBLIC SCHOOLS

Atlas Public Schools originally opened its previous school in a temporary space on Washington Ave. in Midtown St. Louis with 118 kindergarten and first grade students for the 2021-22 school year.  It plans to grow to full enrollment by 2026, adding a grade each year until it reaches 600 students in kindergarten through 5th grade.

JEMA was selected by the charter school to conduct building analysis, programming, and design. The renovation project is an adaptive reuse of a 4-story, 128,000 square foot former office building.  Atlas to relocate its elementary school as well expand to serve up to 525 6-8th grade students (for a total possible building enrollment of up to 1,125 students). Phase 1 includes the acquisition of the property, change-of-use building code required upgrades, replacement of the existing mechanical system, and fit-out of the first two floors to accommodate up to 600 elementary school students. The timing of the second and third phases is to be determined as the school meets its strategic growth targets.
