Pocket Parks Creating Community Connections

JEMA’s design for the St. Charles City Centre Complex is a transformative project that reimagines the historic ACF District. Scheduled to begin construction in March 2025, the complex will integrate a variety of civic, cultural, and community spaces, including a Senior Center, Recreation Center, arts and culture spaces, event facilities, retail, and structured parking—all connected by a new Main Street.

At the heart of the complex, a thoughtfully designed pocket park will provide a welcoming green space between City Hall and the Recreation/Senior Center. This park will serve as a vibrant gathering spot, offering shaded seating, walking paths, and landscaped areas that enhance connectivity between the civic buildings. Designed to foster community engagement, the park will create a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor spaces, encouraging social interaction and relaxation in the heart of the city.
