JEMA Wins Building Saint Louis 2021 Award

The St. Louis Business Journal recently announced the winners of the fifth annual Building St. Louis Awards and JEMA’s design for Ranken’s manufacturing incubator won the category of “Public/Private Project Less Than $10 million.”

The Robert W. Plaster Free Enterprise Center located at 4301 Finney Ave. is an integral part of the campus expansion.  This “hybrid” educational facility houses a microenterprise program that provides students with work-based training to develop 21-century technical and manufacturing skills.

The building design explores the use of diagonal geometry to distinguish the structure from its context, while maintaining a form that is contextual is massing and height.  The East end of the building is “unveiled” by taking the metal cladding and lifting it up as it moves East, creating a glass corner that during the day is a portal view into the student classrooms.

These awards recognize commercial real estate projects that have created a community impact in the areas of investment, jobs created, and potential impact on surrounding areas. The Building St. Louis Awards also honor the major players involved in each project, including owners, developers, brokers, architects/designers, engineers, contractors and financial lenders. – St. Louis Business Journal
