Green Street and JEMA Cut Ribbon on Union at the Grove

It was an exciting day for St. Louis as Green Street and JEMA cut the ribbon on Union at the Grove, a housing development poised to further transform The Grove neighborhood.  City leaders, project team members, and financing partners Greater St. Louis, Inc. and Washington University Medical Redevelopment Corp. all gathered to celebrate the momentous occasion.

The project is a first-of-its-kind collective of six multifamily buildings that combine market rate housing with attainable workforce housing.  JEMA’s design is modern yet contextual and incorporates a new multifamily housing prototype that is based on a very old European model.  Drawing inspiration from Denmark’s “Potato Row,” the design creates a dynamic urban infill project that elevates the neighborhood while respecting the community and context of the area.

The six unique buildings were constructed simultaneously.  Two buildings with storefront lobbies flank the entrance to the neighborhood and serve as the “gateway” to Union at the Grove.  The development features studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom units as well as two-story row homes with front gardens.  Amenities include private entrances, rooftop terraces, balconies, and barbecue areas.
