Listed as one of the “Top Workplaces” and “Fastest Growing Companies” in 2014, Booksource is a national book wholesaler and an incredible company. Founded by Sandy Jaffe in 1974, Booksource is a family-run business that exemplifies a family values-based company.
When JEMA first met with Gary Jaffe, Booksource President and CEO, we knew that we had a special client. But at the time, their office space was vintage 1980s: dark, maze-like, and worn out. The creativity of their employees was being stifled by the unfortunate environment.
JEMA opened up Booksource’s office space. We agreed that offices would be eliminated, and replaced by work stations and open-style benching. The need for privacy was met with the creation of multiple small to medium conferencing rooms. New features include a forty person training room, an employee lounge, and a café.
The resulting design is a complete and total transformation of their environment. The once dark, cluttered space is now open, light-filled, colorful, joyful, and reflective of Booksource’s mission and values.
