Urban Sprouts Early Childhood Center (Expansion)

The recently completed expansion of the Urban Sprouts Early Childhood Center introduces several dynamic and thoughtfully designed spaces, including a dedicated art studio, additional classrooms, and a unique internal ramping playscape that encourages movement and exploration. A vibrant glass bridge—crafted with panels of colored glass—serves as a physical and visual link between the original building and this new wing, creating a sense of continuity while sparking curiosity.

Inspired by the Reggio Emilia educational philosophy, the design of every element within the addition reflects a dual purpose. Spaces such as the bridge, ramp, corridors, corners, nooks, and even cubbies are intentionally designed not only to support circulation and functional needs but also to serve as environments rich with potential for discovery, imaginative play, and experiential learning. These transitional and in-between areas are activated as integral parts of the learning environment, encouraging children to engage, observe, and interact with their surroundings at every turn.
