DISCOVERING A 1970’s DIAGONAL

JEMA’s renovation of the Clayton Plaza building in Richmond Heights, MO took a surprising turn when we discovered a series of 1970 original “scissor” trusses hidden away above an existing hung ceiling. The design exposes and lights the existing trusses and uses the diagonal to inform the design strategy for the whole building.
