A DIAGONAL FROM 1975

Renovating a 1970’s building is not an easy task. So much of the architecture from that decade was built cheaply and poorly constructed. But every now and then, we get lucky. At the new 7700 Clayton Plaza renovation, behind many layers of dropped ceilings, we discovered the building’s original “scissor” trusses. The connector between the flanking office volumes is composed of a series of diagonal structural trusses. We are exposing this 1970’s structure and creating a new exterior entry canopy that reflects the diagonal geometry.
