MODERN & CONTEXTUAL

The City of Glendale’s new fire station is nearing completion. The 10,500 sq. ft., 1 story structure is slated to be complete in August. The design leads the national trend towards more modern, yet still contextual design for municipal facilities.

The design is a study on the surrounding context and the character of the City of Glendale. The new fire station splits itself into two residential forms that emulate the neighboring homes. The two gables are connected by a glass and wood volume. The resulting form is modern and regional without being a pastiche of the historical context.
