St. Louis Sports Hall of Fame

St. Louis has long been known as one of the greatest sports cities in America because of its extraordinary fan base and their passion. Along with this reputation, St. Louis has an unrivaled history of legendary sports teams and players. Greg Marecek, the founder and president of the St. Louis Sports Hall of Fame and a pioneer in sports journalism and broadcasting, chose JEMA to conceive of a new experience for St. Louis fans and sports enthusiasts. The task was to create the greatest hall of fame in America. JEMA created a truly unique destination for not only St. Louisans, but also sports fans from across the nation.

Creating a “one of a kind” experience begins with a theater experience to immerse fans in an introductory video production that sets the tone for the whole museum. A flexible traveling exhibit and multi-media space featuring local and national sports exhibits will anchor the space. Working with state-of-the-art digital developers, the Hall of Fame will allow fans to hit a pitch from Bob Gibson, run the hurdles with Jackie Joyner-Kersee, and hit a slap shot with Al MacInnis. All the pro and amateur teams and athletes throughout St. Louis’s history will be featured, including the ability to play dream match-ups between the sports teams across different eras. Would Dizzy Dean’s team beat Bob Gibson’s team for the ultimate Cardinal’s World Series playoff?

Areas highlighting local high school and college sports history and athletes will be displayed, along with a special Hall of Fame room where highlights of each member will be displayed.

Tying all this together is one of the key functions of the Hall of Fame: youth outreach and education. The museum will feature a Champions and Victory Room where legendary and current pro athletes will teach children and adults about the valuable “life lessons” of sports.

The St. Louis Sports Hall of Fame will be a local and national “must see” destination. The design is on the boards with a goal of a 2015 ribbon cutting.
